A usable private-label quote separates seven scopes: base product, branding, packaging, artwork, samples, tooling or product changes, and documents plus logistics. Cost and timeline cannot be estimated responsibly until those scopes, the quantity and the destination market are defined. Compare the written deliverables and approval gates, not one headline price.
Start by choosing the level of customization
“Private label” can describe very different projects. One buyer may need an existing magnetic tile set with a logo label and revised instruction card. Another may need custom retail-box artwork. A third may want new colors, a changed component mix or an original structure. These are not interchangeable quote requests.
| Project route | Typical scope to define | Main approval | Cost and timing question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand an existing set | Selected SKU, logo application, card, barcode or limited label changes | Brand placement and final files | Which standard components and packaging remain unchanged? |
| Custom packaging | Existing product with new box, sleeve, tin artwork, manual or inserts | Dieline, artwork proof and physical packaging sample if required | Which print process, language versions and packing changes are included? |
| Changed product configuration | Colors, component combination or other available product choices | Approved product and packed sample | Does the change affect quantity, production setup or document coverage? |
| New product development | New component, structure, engineering or tooling | Technical specification and staged samples | What development, tooling, ownership and validation work is separate? |
MagBlockPro can support packaging, instruction-manual and storage-bag customization, while custom photo building blocks are evaluated project by project. The feasible material, structure, MOQ, sample route, image requirements and production timing must be confirmed for the actual proposal.
Build the cost map before asking for a total
A headline “private-label price” is hard to compare because suppliers may place different items inside it. Use a cost map and mark each line as included, separately quoted, buyer-supplied or not applicable:
- Base product: exact model, contents, colors, retail packaging and order quantity.
- Brand application: logo label, printed card, manual, sleeve, box or tin artwork.
- Artwork support: dielines, file checking, layout work, proofing, revisions and language versions.
- Samples: standard sample, artwork mock-up, packaging sample, product sample and shipping.
- Development and tooling: engineering, molds, setup or special components, only when the scope requires them.
- Product evidence: review of existing model-matched documents and any project-specific testing or document work that is actually required.
- Packing and logistics: unit packing, master carton, labels, inspection arrangement, trade term and delivery scope.
Do not insert assumed testing, freight, duty or tax into the product price. Identify who quotes each item, which currency and trade term apply, and which values remain provisional. The landed-cost guide can then be used after product and carton inputs are confirmed.
Plan the timeline as approval gates
A custom timeline is not only factory production time. It begins when the brief is complete and can move only when the buyer and supplier close each decision. Use these gates:
- Scope gate: product form, SKU or concept, market, channel, quantity, packaging and launch target are defined.
- Feasibility and quote gate: the supplier confirms the proposed route, assumptions, exclusions, sample stages and commercial scope.
- Artwork gate: dielines, supplied content, barcode and language versions are approved against the actual package.
- Sample gate: the buyer records what the sample represents, approves it or returns a consolidated change list.
- Order-release gate: final specification, quantity, price, payment milestones, documents and packing are written into the order record.
- Production and quality gate: the agreed checks and any approved changes are recorded before shipment release.
- Logistics gate: carton data, trade term, named place, shipping plan and destination requirements are confirmed.
Ask for the estimate for each stage, who must act next, and what could reset the estimate. Late artwork, multiple revision rounds, a product change after sampling, unresolved document scope or a quantity change can all alter the plan.
MagBlockPro's confirmed 3–7 day preparation window applies to eligible regular orders after order confirmation and excludes international transport. It must not be copied onto private-label projects. Custom timing is confirmed from the selected product, customization route, quantity, approvals and destination requirements.
Define what “included” means in the quote
For every deliverable, ask for the format, quantity, approval rule and owner. “Artwork included” could mean a dieline only, a file check or full layout work. “Sample included” could mean an available standard unit rather than a custom printed sample. “Documents available” does not prove that every document covers the final private-label configuration.
A comparable quote should state:
- exact product identity, contents, quantity and approved changes;
- brand placement, packaging components, print scope and supplied files;
- number and type of samples or proofs, revision assumptions and shipping;
- tooling or setup charges, ownership, storage and reuse terms where applicable;
- which product documents are available and what requires separate confirmation;
- unit packing, master-carton scope and any buyer-supplied labels;
- trade term, named place, payment milestones, quote validity and exclusions.
The wholesale quote checklist covers the underlying commercial fields. The earlier private-label development overview helps choose between simple branding, custom artwork and deeper development.
Why MOQ changes with the project route
MagBlockPro's regular models may start from one carton when the SKU and stock route are eligible and confirmed. That fact does not create a universal one-carton MOQ for custom work. Printing methods, packaging components, setup, special colors, new combinations and tooling can each have a different viable quantity.
Ask for the MOQ at component level: base product, printed package, manual, label, accessory and any special part. If one item drives the quantity, consider whether an existing product plus a lower-complexity branding method can meet the launch goal. The answer is a project trade-off, not a generic promise.
Use this private-label quote request
Product form and model/reference: [details]. Destination market and sales channel: [details]. Estimated quantity: [details]. Customization route: [logo/label/manual/retail box/tin artwork/component change/new development]. Required languages and barcode inputs: [details]. Sample or proof needed: [details]. Target approval and launch dates: [details]. Please separate the base product, artwork, packaging, samples, tooling or setup, document work, packing and logistics. For each line, state what is included, MOQ, approval input, estimated stage timing, payment point and exclusions.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private-label magnetic tile project cost?
There is no universal figure. The product, quantity, branding route, packaging, samples, tooling, document needs and delivery scope must be defined before a responsible quote can be prepared.
How long does private-label production take?
Timing is project-specific. Confirm stage estimates after the scope, artwork, samples, approvals, quantity and destination requirements are known.
Does private label always require a new mold?
No. Existing products can use selected branding or packaging changes. A new component or structure is a separate development route.
What should a private-label quote include?
It should identify the product, quantity, branding, artwork, packaging, samples, tooling if any, production assumptions, documents, packing, trade term, payment points and exclusions.
Request a scoped project route
Send the product reference, market, quantity, customization level and required launch window. MagBlockPro can confirm the feasible route and the variables that still need pricing or approval.
