Magnetic Block Sample Order Process: From Inquiry to Your Doorstep

October 8, 20268 min read

A useful magnetic block sample order has seven controlled steps: define the product and purpose, confirm the available sample version, receive a complete sample-and-shipping quote, approve the order details, track dispatch, record what arrived, and decide what must change before a bulk order. The sample reduces uncertainty only when its identity and every later change remain traceable.

1. Start with the decision the sample must support

“Please send a sample” is not yet a sourcing brief. Say whether you are checking a standard product for a small first order, comparing product formats, reviewing a retail package, or starting a private-label project. The answer changes which version should be sent and what evidence needs to travel with it.

Include the destination market and sales channel. Also identify the product form: flat magnetic tiles and magnetic cubes or blocks should not share an ambiguous request. Add a model number, link or reference image whenever possible.

2. Confirm exactly what is available as a sample

Ask the supplier to identify the model, contents and packaging version in writing. A stock sample may show the base product quickly, but it does not represent unproduced custom artwork. A packaging mock-up may help review layout, yet it may not prove the final printing method or packed-carton configuration.

Keep these descriptions separate:

  • Standard product sample: an available product and its current package.
  • Custom presentation sample: artwork, label, manual or packaging prepared for review.
  • Pre-production reference: the approved configuration intended to guide the order.

Availability, charges, minimum quantities and timing for custom work depend on the model, design and project. They must be confirmed rather than borrowed from the regular one-carton offer.

3. Review the sample quote as a complete transaction

A usable quote separates the sample itself from delivery. Ask it to show the model and packaging version, sample quantity, included customization, shipping method, destination, quoted currency, payment route, preparation estimate and what is excluded. Do not assume taxes, import handling or remote-area charges are included unless the quotation says so.

Courier rates and delivery estimates depend on the actual parcel, destination and booking date. Provide the country, city and postal code before treating a shipping estimate as final. If the shipment requires an importer or tax identifier, confirm the destination-side requirement with the carrier or broker.

4. Approve a short sample order record

Before payment, save one written record containing:

  1. Supplier model or SKU and a matching product reference.
  2. Piece count, shape mix and included accessories as applicable.
  3. Retail packaging version and any artwork status.
  4. Sample quantity and quoted charges.
  5. Recipient name, address, telephone number and delivery details.
  6. Target market and the purpose of the sample.
  7. Preparation estimate, shipping method and tracking responsibility.

This record prevents a later discussion about a different version. Confirm the supplier's available payment method and beneficiary details through the agreed business channel; the website does not publish a universal payment route.

5. Treat dispatch as a separate milestone

Ask for notice when the parcel is handed to the carrier, plus the tracking number and the shipped item summary. The regular 3–7 day statement applies only to eligible confirmed regular orders and does not include international transport. It should not be copied onto a sample project without a model-specific confirmation.

Track exceptions early. An address correction, customs query or carrier request is easier to handle when the buyer and supplier agree who will respond and what shipment details were declared.

6. Record receipt before evaluating the product

On arrival, photograph the unopened parcel if it shows damage, then record the delivery date and the labels on the product and package. Match the received model, package and contents to the sample order record before judging quality. If the wrong version arrived, separate that fulfilment problem from the product assessment.

For the detailed physical review, use the magnetic Travel Set sample inspection checklist. A sample review should cover the actual product and package; it does not replace an inspection of the later production batch.

7. Turn observations into an order decision

Close the sample stage with one of four decisions: reject the model, request clarification, request a revised sample, or approve it as a reference for the next commercial step. Write every accepted change into a versioned specification. “Same as sample” is too vague if artwork, contents, color, package, warning text or carton packing will change.

Before ordering, compare the approved configuration with the magnetic tiles RFQ checklist and the sample-to-order change-control checklist. Confirm applicable documents by exact SKU, age grade, packaging and destination market.

Sample enquiry

Please confirm a sample for [model/reference]. Product form: [flat magnetic tiles/magnetic blocks]. Purpose: [standard evaluation/private-label project]. Packaging version: [details]. Quantity: [number]. Destination country, city and postal code: [details]. Please quote the sample, available customization, preparation estimate, shipping method and exclusions separately. Please also state which parts of the sample will differ from a later production order.

Frequently asked questions

Does a sample confirm the bulk-order specification?

No. It is a reference for the version supplied. The bulk-order specification and every approved change still need to be recorded.

Does the regular 3–7 day preparation window apply to samples?

Do not assume it does. Sample availability, preparation and courier timing are confirmed for the selected model and route.

Should I order a standard sample before private label work?

It can be a useful way to evaluate the base product, but a standard sample does not approve custom artwork or packaging.

What is needed for a delivery quote?

Send the model, quantity, packaging version, destination country, city, postal code and recipient details, plus any customization request.

Request a model-specific sample route

Send the product reference, destination and the decision you need the sample to support. MagBlockPro can confirm what sample version is available and which project variables still need approval.
